Benjamin Moore Brewster Gray is one the prettiest blue gray paint colors I’ve ever seen, and I’m so excited to share it with you today! Part of Benjamin Moore’s Historical Colors collection, this shade is sophisticated but so easy to use.

It’s a medium-toned gray with significant blue undertones, resulting in a cool and calming effect.

Every time I think I’ve become familiar with all the prettiest shades of blue paint, I find a new one that I just have to share! Brewster Gray is a color that feels like it could transport you to Europe, but it could be just as comfortable on the shutters of a beach cottage.

Benjamin Moore describes this color as handsome, and I certainly don’t disagree. I can think of so many fabulous ways to use this color, so I’m sharing them with all with you today!

Benjamin Moore Brewster Gray HC-162

This color is complex and a touch dramatic, but still feels soft and welcoming. It’s beautiful as an accent color both indoors and out – I love how my friend Erin used it on her shutters and front door, as you’ll see throughout this guide!

Brewster Gray LRV

What is LRV? Click through for a full guide – this is an important system to understand for paint choices!

With an LRV of 29.97, this is considered a deeper shade, veering towards dark. However, if you’re using it on an exterior or in a room that gets a lot of natural light, I think you’ll be surprised at how soft and pretty it feels!

For a quick comparison, note that Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog has an LRV of 30. These two shades have similar levels of depth and interest!

Undertones

Brewster Gray can appear lighter in rooms with plenty of natural light, bringing out its blue undertones.

In rooms with limited natural light, the color may appear darker and more muted. Warm lighting can help balance the cool tones.

Paint Samples

As with any paint color, it’s essential to test Benjamin Moore Brewster Gray in your space. Paint a small section of the wall or use large sample boards to see how the color looks at different times of the day and under various lighting conditions. Or, order from Samplize – my favorite method!
