Compared to the excitement of fall fashion, the bulky layers and muted color palette that often come with winter dressing can feel less than inspiring. When the temperatures fall below freezing and the threat of snow or rain rears its head, looking cute tends to take a back seat to comfort. As a bona fide summer girl who prefers prairie dresses to puffer coats, I’m especially susceptible to winter fashion fatigue, so I tapped NYC-based stylist Ashley Jebran for a little inspiration. Jebran broke down this season’s biggest trends and—spoiler alert—they’re anything but boring.
Stylist-Approved Winter 2024 Trends
From motorcycle boots to chunky earrings, this winter’s style du jour is all about making vintage aesthetics new again. Plus, fabrics and colors are more sumptuous than ever. Think: suede, animal prints, and rich, warm hues. Keep reading for Jebran’s tips for looking stylish all season (and the Amazon pieces you can shop to try the trends—from $13).
Levi’s Faux Shearling Moto Jacket
According to Jebran, shearling jackets are one of this winter’s biggest outerwear trends thanks in part to their versatility. “Styling a shearling coat can be super easy,” she told Byrdie, noting that she likes to pair hers with a mini skirt, tights, and a sweater. “If you’re looking for one [style] in particular, I suggest going for something a little more bold that has a mix of shearling and suede or leather.”
For example, this edgy Levi’s option is leather with a faux shearling lining and silver hardware. Or you could opt for a sherpa jacket that’s entirely fuzzy, like this discounted style in one of Jebran’s favorite colors of the season: chocolate brown.

Chouyatou Long Wool Coat
Another major jacket trend Jebran identified? The long, tailored overcoat. “While your outfit can be simple and minimal, your coat will be the statement piece throughout the season, so make sure you choose wisely,” she advised, specifically recommending a long, below-the-knee overcoat.
This on-sale wool coat with nearly 6,000 five-star shopper ratings fits the bill; plus, it’s available in a rich burgundy shade—one of the other color trends Jebran mentioned. “Think of this as your favorite blazer’s older sister,” she said. For a shorter hem length, try this 52%-off pick.

Nine West Andone Over-the-Knee Boots
“Two footwear trends this season are over-the-knee boots and moto-style boots,” Jebran told Byrdie. “What I love about both of these trends is that you can really work with your wardrobe and switch up your style to be more edgy with a minimal touch or sexy and chic.” She’s a fan of combining the animal print trend with an over-the-knee silhouette for a statement-making look, but for more of a staple, try these black Nine West Andone Boots.
Meanwhile, biker boots began to trend earlier this fall, and Jebran recommends juxtaposing their hardness with flowy pieces like a boho dress or maxi skirt. These buckle-embellished Dream Pairs boots are reminiscent of an Emily Ratajkowski-worn Miu Miu style.

Trendy Queen Crewneck Sweater
Jebran suggested oversized knitwear as a styling companion to both outwear trends, so I found a couple chunky sweaters on Amazon to layer with your new jackets. After all, who wants to be wearing anything other than a cozy sweater when the cold kicks in? Check out this cable-knit crewneck or a wine red turtleneck.

Hessawell Gold Door Knocker Earrings
“An accessory trend I’m loving is statement earrings with any look and any occasion, whether you’re grabbing lunch with friends or getting dressed up for an evening out,” explained Jebran. “The perfect way to style [the trend] would be with a messy high ponytail, chic ‘fit, and a bunch of mixed-metal jewelry.” In other words, after years of tiny huggie hoops reigning supreme, eye-catching earrings are back in a big way—literally. This year’s trendiest earrings are updated takes on ‘80s-inspired looks, like these $14 door-knocker earrings and button-inspired styles.
The Sak Huntley Leather Hobo Bag
This was undeniably the fall of suede and leopard print—and, per Jebran, these trends are not going anywhere this winter. One of my personal favorite ways to wear suede is with a slouchy tote like the Sak’s Huntley Leather Hobo Bags; however, the luxe fabric also lends itself beautifully to boots, jackets, and even trousers. Similarly, leopard print is so versatile that it’s essentially become a neutral, but I love the idea of dressing up a minimalist outfit with these Franco Sarto Mary Janes.
